About Gunderson AeroDesign

Gunderson AeroDesign is dedicated to serving R/C builders from around the world by providing the best in high quality laser cut kits and builder support services such as wide format plans scanning and printing along with CAD conversion and prototype design.

We have built our business on the premise that the R/C hobby is as much about the design, craftsmanship, and joy of building as it is about the flying. That is why you no longer find ARF kits on this website. Gunderson AeroDesign is about balsa dust and fingers caked in CA glue, and building great memories while building great planes!

Our Story

Gunderson AeroDesign was founded in 2005 by Rich Gunderson to pursue a dream of offering unique designs in the form of high quality laser cut kits. The first product was the S-1, a canard slope soaring sailplane shown in the photo above. Shortly after the launch of the S-1, we launched our custom laser cutting and engraving service, which quickly grew in popularity and eventually led to the release of the 26% scale Spirit of Pitts by Bernard Burton. To date we have provided almost 500 free copies of the plans for the Spirit of Pitts.

In 2006, our custom laser cutting service was spun off as a new partnership between Rich and his brother Isaac called Laser Edge (www.laseredgecutters.com). The new company allowed Gunderson AeroDesign to remain focused on R/C while Laser Edge focused on expanding our laser cutting service to support other industries. Gunderson AeroDesign uses Laser Edge exclusively for all of our laser cut kits.

After a short foray into the middle of the market, where ARF kits reign supreme, Gunderson AeroDesign is finally returning to its roots and our current plan is to expand on our laser cut kit line and continue to build our offering of services. We are excited about the future and our new focus on why the company was started in the first place.
